It’s been a bit quiet around here, lately!
You may have noticed it’s been a little quiet on the blog lately. I wanted to share a quick update and let you know why.
Over the past few months, many music therapists have been navigating significant changes and challenges in the NDIS space. Funding uncertainties, service restrictions, and increased administrative pressures have made it more difficult for many of us to do the work we’re passionate about. Like many allied health professionals, we’ve had to focus our energy on supporting clients through transitions, advocating for appropriate funding, and in some cases, rethinking how we deliver therapy altogether. The NDIS has not yet revealed the findings of a report delivered months ago, and at the same time, some clients have had their funding removed without notice which has been devastating for everyone involved.
These challenges have taken time and headspace, and unfortunately, that’s meant the blog has taken a back seat. But I haven’t stopped thinking, writing, or researching the role of music in health and wellbeing, and I’m looking forward to sharing more reflections once we are ‘back on track’ (whatever that may look like!)
In the meantime, thank you for sticking around. If you’re a fellow therapist, client, or carer impacted by recent NDIS changes, I see you. This work is still important, even if the systems around it don’t always make it easy.
Stay tuned!
