Neurologic Music Therapy® in Geelong and Torquay

A few weeks ago, the NDIA announced that after a rigorous review, music therapy has been retained in the NDIS as a therapeutic support. This is wonderful news, because it means that music therapy has been found to be effective, evidence-based, and beneficial to thousands of NDIS participants and will continue to be available.

Unfortunately, however, they have also allocated a 20% reduction in fee to registered music therapists, despite the current qualification being at level 9 on the Australian Qualifications Framework, and many music therapists holding 2 degrees that support their work. In my case, I also provide a large range of instruments and a dedicated therapeutic environment, specifically to foster and encourage as much musical engagement and development as possible, but unfortunately I cannot continue to provide all of this at a lower fee. This means it is no longer sustainable for me to operate from a dedicated music therapy practice site and I will close my Canberra practice on November 21, 2025.

In considering all factors regarding how to carry on, I eventually arrived at the decision to move to Geelong, Victoria and operate a mobile music therapy clinic, focusing on the techniques of Neurologic Music Therapy® and working with adults in neurorehabilitation. So if you’re an adult looking to rehabilitate neurons through music in the Geelong/Torquay area please self-refer by filling in our inquiry form, and we will gladly book you in to get started in either December or early in 2026.
